The Diana House has been carefully restored and updated but as a vintage home there are quirks and signs of loving use. There’s a faucet that turns the wrong way, light switches in odd places and water pressure that can struggle if too many things are running at once and the occasional small crack or blemish. Probably more noticeable to us!
Apart from all new beds and bedding, much of the furniture and also our kitchen wares are vintage so may show cosmetic signs of wear. As they are also unique pieces we also ask you to use them gently.
The neighborhood is quiet and residential, so no parties or large gatherings are permitted and we ask that outside noise be minimal after 9pm. And absolutely no smoking or vaping inside the house.
The pool is used at your own risk and is not heated. It’s on the small side so absolutely no jumping or diving.
Pets are welcome but the yard is not fully fenced so you will need to supervise your animal and pick up any waste.
Kids are also welcome but with lots of hard surfaces, steps and the pool it is not a great choice for infants and toddlers.
It's a large home in a humid and buggy part of Florida and while we do our very best to secure all gaps and cracks and maintain high standards in cleaning and regular pest control, we cannot guarantee that you will not see a spider, lizard or even roach inside and/or outside of the house.
If you have mobility issues please get in touch as the house does have small but unavoidable steps and stairs.
We have a separate studio bedroom attached to the carport with its own driveway and parking area. It may be occupied by a single person from time to time.
While many visitors to Gainesville are here for work or medical reasons or are visiting students or staff at the University of Florida, there is a lot to do in the region and the Diana House is a superb central base. There are lots of unique eateries, seasonal festivals and art in addition to the springs and rivers we are more well known for. We’re also centrally located in the middle of the state just minutes from I75 so you can enjoy both Florida coasts on a day trip.
Please help us reduce our impact by turning off lights and appliances, being conservative with water use and understanding of our non-fertilized lawn. We do not provide coffee pods or bottled water but do provide lots of Tupperware and refillable water bottles for your use while you are with us. We source dry goods for the pantry staples in bulk and refillable hand soaps from local company Made up Gossip. All toiletries are natural and hydrocarbon-based chemical-free and are provided in refillable containers.
Equally enamored by the natural world and cool old things, from sofas to campers to houses and boats. I’m half English, half American with a master’s in marine biology and while I mostly look after houses right now my background is in the environmental field. Please learn more about my travels and education efforts at cloegoes.com and if you’d like to check out some of the vintage finds that are offered for sale see cloegoes.com/retro. My partner Gene is patient, and very handy, though often out of town as he’s also an environmental professional with his own eco-tourism business; he takes people swimming with humpback whales, yes that really is a thing you can do!
